did you hear about the Scotsman, the Englishman and the....

Funny thing comedy, you just never know what people will find funny.
Something that can leave me wetting my kegs in uproarious squeals may not have the same effect on anyone else.
It's a very personal thing. Probably even more so than music because of the more direct effect it has on our emotions.

I can quite happily listen to the radio even if is playing something I don't particularly enjoy.

Humour is different...

I'm not really one for spending my time in front of the telly but over the years I've had the misfortune to watch some amount of dross in the name of comedy. Now, if something comes on that I don't find funny, it gets removed from the horizon.
Either I move or I hit the off button.

My own personal comedic preference has always been the self deprecating, life observation of people like Billy Connolly who in my opinion is one of the funniest men alive.

Sit-coms just don't do it for me.

Worse than that are the sit com repeats.
But there are always exceptions.

In one of my rare ventures into tv land, I recently watched an episode of the Jack Dee sitcom (sorry Jack, can't remember what it was called, but its the one with the Paul Weller tune).

I realised I was watching myself (excepting his desire to lie continually).
The scene of his character trying to buy some paracetamol, and getting stressed over being offered everything but, could have been tapped directly from my subconscious.
His cynicism over the third world appeal touched a similar chord. I bet he's always right and always knows what's best for other people too.

I've never thought of myself as much of a comedian, joke with forgotten punchlines being my speciality but I do like a laugh.

Generally, I find it is your friends and family who are the best comedians of all.

They are the ones who have the split second timing, who have some emotional link, therefore know what their audience will bear and have a more natural, non-scripted, version of life.

Anyway, while doing some Christmas present research, I chanced upon something that made me snigger.

What the f4ck is grown on a knob plantation, and more to the point, what are Village Depot Direct trying to tell us.

Is it a 29 pound gay cock or does it cost £29. Are they any relation to the Village People.

The mind boggles.

Away from all that and back to the serious stuff...

...for your enjoyment this week, some more drinking tunes from around the globe plus a mix of some other stuff...

Man, just discovered your blog! Great music and funny stuff! My thanks for what you've posted and looking forward to what you have in store! Trapped as I am over here in the U.S., finding some of the music you're posting is like coming across a goldmine! That eEnergy Orchard you posted a while back - now that was a mind trip! Again, my thanks to you! Now, the request part - you don't have either Love and Money's 'Strange Kind of Love' or 'Hipsway' by Hipsway do you? Can't find them over here Stateside for, ah, well, love or money!
Again, thanks and a great hogmany to you!

boz,

Glad you have found something you like. Funnily enough the Energy Orchard album did the same for me when I found it - the original tape I had got nicked on a trip to the US. I'll do what I can with your reqs but can promise. I had both albums at one time but I have consigned so much stuff to the attic or the jumble sale that they may be gone forever.

Cheers and thanks for your support

Will do what I can.
I could post some King Creosote but that would be nicking links which I don't want to do.
If you're interested, use my link to Ear Bleeding Country. Colin has some amazing stuff there.

Thanks for you comments and support.

I don't suppose there is any chance of you posting some KC stuff, as ear bleding country is by invite only, and my name's not down, so I'm not getting in
